I Changed My Mind about Leaving Twitter
In my last post, I said I wasn’t going to leave Facebook and Twitter because that’s where the people are. I’ve reconsidered in the case of Twitter for a couple of reasons. The turning point for me was it’s latest decisions to ban people with whom it disagrees under the guise of preventing incitement to violence. Bologna! Dorsey’s behavior is despicable. Twitter needs to die, and we need to starve it to death.
Admittedly, helping in that decision for me is that none of my accounts have much of a following to begin with. I never did much to promote them, and Twitter was never a social network for me in the same sense as Facebook has been. I have very few actual friends connected there and the few I do will understand why I’ve made this decision and I hope will follow suit. There are other ways to get news, and Twitter doesn’t deserve our patronage.
