Much has changed in the six years since I wrote the following paragraphs.  Some good things have happened and some not so good, but the thing that struck me right away is that the first part is no longer true.  … Continue reading →

Better Off Dead?

The Lion's Roar Posted on December 30, 2012 by LarryDecember 30, 2012

I was going to put this down in the form of a poem, which quickly evolved into a song. When I got started I realized I just wanted to lay it out. I don’t have any delusions about the quality … Continue reading →

Depression

The Lion's Roar Posted on December 10, 2011 by LarryDecember 10, 2011

I stand at the gates of Hell, holding to a sliver of hope that I may not enter. I look for You, but I cannot find You. Are You hiding? Why? I see Your words in black and white and … Continue reading →

A Joyful Prayer

The Lion's Roar Posted on August 20, 2010 by LarryAugust 20, 2010

What follows is the journal entry I made this morning. A few years ago I took to writing my journal entries as prayers to God. This one came out of a tough week. I knew when I was given the … Continue reading →

Black

The Lion's Roar Posted on June 15, 2009 by LarryJune 15, 2009

Black clouds gather on the horizon. A sea named Hope is now called Despair. Thunder rumbles, signaling the impending doom of a heart attack. Black, the depths of the sea, with nothing but the creatures of myth for company. There … Continue reading →

This Is My Life

The Lion's Roar Posted on November 24, 2008 by LarryNovember 24, 2008

This is my life…more valleys
than peaks, but mostly
flat…a barren desert, the

itself cannot melt the ice in
my heart. I am traveling
toward the distant
mountain where I might
find rest with my Lord, but
I often lose site of it and
wander aimlessly as time
slips away. If I meet a
fellow traveler, I offer to
show the way and give of

Turning Gray

The Lion's Roar Posted on March 28, 2008 by LarryMarch 28, 2008

My wife says to me, “you’re getting more distinguished every day.” I’m still not able to see the gray specs unless I enlarge one of the pictures we recently had taken, but my hair isn’t the only thing turning gray. … Continue reading →
